[284] Thomas was granted 83 acres of land in Shelby Co, TN on Oct. 10, 1844. His burial is in the Wherry Cemetery near Arlington. The land on which the cemetery is located (off Chambers Chapel Rd., northof U.S.64, just before reaching Chambers Chapel Church) was orginally part of a larger parcel owned by the Wherry family before it was sold to the Wylie family. Mother,Elizabeth was still living with family in 1860. In 1860 Thomas owned considerable farm property butprobably no slaves. Next door was brother, Silas.
