Confederate Vet., Pvt C Co, 51st Infranty Regiment. Enlisted Nov 26, 1861 at Shelby Station, ShelbyCo. TN. Fought at Shiloh, Perryville, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Atlanta, Nashville. He was a membber of Co C, 51s Reg't, Tenn Infranty until it was combined into the 2d Consolidated Regiment Tenn Infantry, which was paroled at Greensboro, N.C., May 2, 1865 and was under the command of Gen Joseph E Johnston, Commanding, Confederate Army. Records show that he was admitted to the Ocmulgee Hospital, Macon, GA with Rubeola on July 7, 1864 and transferred July 8, 1964. According to his daughter, Nancye Annie Jones Lynn, he walked home to Shelby Co from North Carolina after his parole.Nat is believed to have been born in Halifax Co, VA since he moved from there with his parents in 1836 according to his daughter, Nancy Annie. His parents lived in the 8th Civil District of Shelby County, Tennessee.Nat acquired and owned a farm of approximately 130 acres off Chambers Chapel Road just north of I-40. Today Paridise Lake is on a part of the original farm. Nat's daughter, Annie, said that as she was growing up she and her sisters picked cotton in the field where the lake is now. The home, outbuildings, and barn were located on a spot on the north shore of the lake.PENSION #: S9151
