[1746] Was a member of the Fishing Creek Church, Chester Co, SC. Ref. AWR Patriot Index for AWR service. Was granted property on 28 October 1765 by William Tryon, Dist Gov of NC in the Chester District, SC. Some say that Christopher Strait's stepmother was Mrs Mary Remer. In his family bible the surname is spelled Stright.

This area is roughly mid way between Chester and Rock Hill, SC.Christopher was a soldier and patriot during the American Revolutionary War. Was a blacksmith (shodhorses) for the army & furnished supplies. Served under Capt. Philip Walker, 75 day. Served under Capts. Allen Hagen & John Mills, 89 days. - DAR application of Annie Lee "Ann Porter Randall."Received 25 pounds fifteen shillings & eight pence sterling for sundries for Continentals & Militiause on 21 Jan 1785. - Stub Entries to Indents, Books L-N; A.
